    Accessory Drive Train - Aircraft

Consistent with the engine accessory drive train, that of the aircraft operates numerous accessories such as the power generators, hydraulic and compressor pumps, thus allowing the correct functioning of various aircraft systems: hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, and electric generators.

Avio has harnessed its know-how relative to the engine accessory drive train, developing systems for the aircraft accessory drive train destined for military applications.

Avio for the Typhoon fighter aircraft, besides participation in the EJ200 engine, is also leader company of the DFZI 100 Consortium responsible for the design and production of the AMAD (Aircraft Mounted Accessories Drive) transmission for the aircraft accessories.

    The DFZI 100 Consortium comprises:

    • Avio (40%)
    • Liebherr - Germany (30%)
    • MOOG Wolverhampton Ltd - Great Britain (30%)

    Avio's module details:

Hydraulic and electric accessories are installed on the AMAD for power generation necessary for aircraft uses and flight controls.

The application on the Typhoon fighter aircraft foresees the use of two gearboxes, specular to each other, one right and one left, each of which is linked by a special sliding coupling to the gearbox flange of the respective engine from which motion is taken.

The accessories installed on AMAD gearbox are:

    • compressed air starter (ATS/M)
    • main electric constant frequency generator (CFG)
    • hydraulic pump (HP)
    • emergency electric direct current generator (DCG)
