    Monitoring Systems

With the technological evolution on aeronautical engines, the management of maintenance and the identification of faults that may have an impact on safety have become more and more complex activities.
Monitoring of the state of health of an aeronautical engine and its performance is entrusted to, in modern engines, to the Engine/Health Monitoring System (EMS/HMS), made up of an integrated combination of equipment that gathers engine data, and records it, process it, and transmit the results to personnel at stations on the ground.

Avio has major experience in Health Monitoring, acquired thanks to its participation in the most important national and international programmes such as the RB199, EJ200 and T700.
For the RB199, Avio produced the Ma.Re. (Maintenance Recorder) system, comprising a network of ground stations that analyse engine data during flight and calculate the residual life of engine components and their performance. It is the first Condition Based Maintenance system that has obtained, since 2008, Armaereo certification.

In the EJ200programme, the development activity is significant relative to the Lifing (following the Ma.Re. experience) and Oil Debris Monitoring functions, an important trend that also underpins industrial research in gearbox monitoring.
