    T700-T6E1

The T700-T6E1 engine was developed to equip the NH90 helicopter of the Italian, German, French and Dutch Armed Forces.

The T700-T6E1 is an engine in the 1,900 kW power class. Avio’s share in the Italian motorisation is 60%, while 40% for the others.

Avio, partner of GE, designs and produces parts of the low-pressure turbine, and is responsible for the design, development, production and overhaul of parts of the accessory drive train and other components. Avio also carries out the complete engine assembly and testing.

    Avio's module details

    Low-Pressure Turbine

Avio is responsible for the design of the new cooling system of the casing comprising a nozzle to feed cooled air to a plenary assembly from which cool air jets start towards the casing in order to improve the cooling effectiveness of the static frames and allow an increase in the temperature at turbine input. Avio is responsible for the production, and participated, in a consistent way, in partnership with General Electric for the development of the following parts:

    • New third-stage nozzle
    • Updating of third-stage disk cooling system
    • Third- and fourth-stage lifing disks
    • Fourth-stage nozzle and seal
    • Third- and fourth-stage blade
    • Third- and fourth-stage shroud
    • Casing
    Assembly and Engine Testing

Avio is responsible for obtaining the validation towards Armaereo and commercialisation of the engine as prime contractor towards the NAHEMA Consortium. Finally, Avio is responsible for Product Support and collaborated with General Electric in the development and qualification phases of the T700-T6E1 turboshaft engines.

Avio is fully responsible for all the development and qualification tests; it contributed to the project for the main structural parts of low-pressure turbine and accessory drive train modules.

    Accessory Drive Train

Avio is responsible for the design, development, production and overhaul of parts of the accessory drive train of the CT7-8 and T700-T6E1 engines.

The accessory drive train includes the input gearbox, which transfers torque from the HP engine shaft to the gearbox of the vertical transmission shaft accessories, which connects the input Gearbox to the Accessory Gearbox, which is supported on the upper side of outer compressor casing and drives 6 accessories.

    Other Components

Avio is responsible for the design, development and production of the following parts:

    • accessories: blower, T45 harness, P3 Sensor, P0 sensor, exciter, alternator stator
    • front frame
    • diffuser case
    • ODA: Output Drive Assembly shaft
    • support Bearing #3
    • scroll Case
