    F119

The F119-PW-100 engine was chosen to power the F-22 “Raptor”, the new US model, air superiority fighter aircraft.

Avio, as vendor of Pratt&Whitney, is responsible for the industrialisation, production and supply of spare parts for the accessory drive train.

The F119 is a twin-shaft turbofan with afterburner. It is equipped with a Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC) system.

It has a twin-shaft configuration featuring:

    • compressor system with six axial stages
    • single-stage high-pressure turbine
    • single-stage low-pressure turbine
    • convergent/divergent nozzle with vector thrust and reverse thrust capacity

The convergent/divergent nozzle with bi-dimensional vector thrust, together with the FADEC control system, guarantee exceptional aircraft manoeuvrability. The FADEC also ensures an advanced monitoring and diagnostics system to support maintenance activities and automatic recovery of data.
