Avio carried out the entire project of the Oil Debris Monitoring (ODM) system for the EJ200 engine. The objective of the ODM is the identification of particles of ferromagnetic metallic materials in the engine's lubrication oil circuit.
The ODM has a diagnostic/prognostic function, able to identify incipient faults of the lubrication circuit components and notify operators of any anomalous situations that may bring about engine stall.
Avio followed the entire ODM project, from the definition of the requisites to the execution of the certification tests. The electronics, mechanical and software design followed severe procedures defined for the Eurofighter/EJ200 project.
On the EJ200, Avio also developed the oil level sensor, based on the pressure differential inside the rotating oil tank.
