About 700 engines installed on military and civilian ships and industrial applications.
Under the contract signed in 1968, Avio sells under license from the General Electric LM2500 gas turbine + version propeller ship. Avio has involved both on design and production of components exclusive of the naval version of the engine.
Avio can provide the module TG, the auxiliaries and the TCS.
Avio can provide final assembly of modules propulsion LM together at the base, to supports, joints and flexible pipes, the pipes and to the housing.
Module and auxiliary gas turbine
To use the engine, the gas turbine is installed in an appropriate housing, with specific auxiliary components.
The main purpose is the provision of fluids needed for the operation conditions of temperature, flow and pressure required by gas turbine.
The secondary purpose is the provision of interfaces with the structure of the vessel, ensuring the observance of environmental requirements in terms of noise, heat dissipation and protection of persons.
The design philosophy of Avio, which is based on efficiency and cost containment of weight, robustness, easily maintenance and installation, led to the development of dedicated equipment mounted on ‘skid’ for the auxiliary module and the optimized version GT, including gas turbine, the supports, pipes and cables.
Have been developed and are constantly upgraded, two dedicated versions, one for commercial applications and one for military applications.
The unique characteristics of military version are:
- Ability to shock resistance in accordance with MIL STD 901D.
- Vibration and noise reduced second MIL STD 167-1 and MIL STD 740-B.
- Redundancy optimized.
