The PW4000-94 is a turbofan engine, bi-shaft, high dilution ratio.
It is equipped with a Full Authority Digital Electronic Control (FADEC).
It has a configuration with two shafts, characterized by:
- High pressure compressor with eleven stages axial
- two stages of High Pressure Turbine
- four stages of Low Pressure Turbine
The PW4000 94-inch model is the first model of the PW4000 engine family, for a bi-engine airplanes.
The advanced technology used, such as turbine blades with single-crystal and FADEC, have contributed to 'guaranteed reliability and fuel consumption optimized.
The current PW4000 engine meets and anticipated the current requirements for reducing noise and emissions. A guarantee of a further reduction of emissions, especially NOx, the new technology TALON (Technology for Advanced Low NOx) is available for combustion chamber.
The launch of the program occurred in 1982, the entry into service in June 1987.
In 2007 have been delivered 2472 engines, which currently active service in 2169 engines, for a total of 91.6 million flight hours and 19.0 million cycles.
