    CF6-80C2/E1

The CF6 engine family equips over 1,900 aircraft such as the Airbus A300, A310, A330 and Boeing B767 and B747. Moreover, the CF6-80 is also installed on the US President’s Boeing VC-25 aircraft known as Air Force One.

The CF6 is an engine that boasts a high by-pass ratio that has reached 260 million flight hours since its entry into service in 1971.

Avio, partner of GE, is responsible for the production of the transfer gearbox, accessory gearbox, inlet gearbox and some components of the low-pressure turbine (stator stages, rotor disks).

From the CF6, aeroderivative gas turbines have been produced for marine and industrial applications such as the LMS100 and LM6000.

    Main features of the CF6-80C2:

    • max diameter of fan: 106in.
    • air flow rate: 790 kg/s
    • compression ratio: 30.4
    • by-pass ratio: 5 - 5,31
    • thrust: 52,500 - 63,500 lb

Main features of the CF6-80E1 (differences to the C2):

    • max diameter of fan: 114in.
    • air flow rate: 875kg/s
    • compression ratio: 32.4 - 34.8
    • by-pass ratio: 5 - 5.1
    • thrust: 67,500 - 72,000lb

    Main engine characteristics

Max Power at SL 41.500 - 72.000 lb
    Fan diameter 105 - 114 inches
    Overall pressure ratio 25.0 - 34.8
    Bypass ratio 4.24 a 5:92

    Accessory Drive Train

Avio is responsible for production of the accessory drive train, a sector in which Avio is world leader with over 50% of Market Share.

    The accessory drive train includes:

    • inlet gearbox: takes motion from the fan and transfers it through the radial shaft to the transfer gearbox
    • transfer gearbox: transfers motion from the radial shaft to the horizontal shaft
    • accessory gearbox: transfers motion from the horizontal shaft to the 7 accessories of the engine and aircraft
    Low Pressure Turbine

Avio is responsible for production of some low-pressure turbine components (the 5-stator stages, and rotor disks for both the C2 and E1 versions)

The CF6 is a turbo-fan engine that initially has a single-stage fan supplied by a 5-stage low-pressure turbine, a 16-stage compressor supplied by a 2-stage high-pressure turbine. The combustor is of an annular type.

The baseline architecture of the CF6-80 low-pressure turbine module derives from the CF6-50, despite having different mechanical features.
