From the early successes of the'70s with the innovative propulsion control digital system for the "Lupo" class Frigates of the Italian Navy, the Automation Systems Department has maintained a top position in the systems of supervision and control of naval platform, preparing up over 200 merchant ships and military all around the world (Europe, South America, Far East and Australia).
The products developed by Avio cover all automation functions of the platform necessary for the ship navigation, safety and stability, offering a full range of integrated tools for the conduct of ships and submarines, including systems of training for crews and equipment maintenance.

Moreover, in the defence sector, Avio works since many years with the two leading Italian manufacturers of weapon systems, WAS and MBDA, providing them inertial systems, developed in collaboration with the French company Sagem DS, and equipment for torpedoes and missiles guidance.
